- Passing gas indicates a healthy gut and proper digestion function
- Sweating during exercise shows the body’s natural cooling and health
- Regular bowel movements from 3 times a week to 3 times a day are normal
Health issues often come with warning signs. Headache, weight loss or gain, acne, bloating, abdominal pain, runny nose, stiffness, etc., are among symptoms of more than one ailment, but what is the parameter for staying healthy?
Are there any signs that tell you whether you are in the prime of your health or not? Yes, there are, and they are quite odd. Dr Saurabh Sethi, MD, MPH, is a gut doctor who recently shared 10 "weird" signs that indicate you are fit.
Passing Gas
As embarrassing as it sounds, passing gas is actually a sign of a healthy body and gut. Explaining it, the expert noted, "Gas is produced when gut bacteria break down food. It's completely normal and shows your digestive system is working perfectly." The next time you accidentally pass gas while bending or even sleeping, don't be embarrassed. It's your digestive system indicating that it's happy with a loud hurrah.
Urine Is Light Yellow
The colour of urine can tell a lot about your health. If you are peeing light yellow, you are well hydrated, and your kidneys are filtering waste properly. According to a Mayo Clinic report, you must be wary if the colour changes to orange, red, blue, green, cloudy white, or dark brown. It needs immediate attention and a few necessary tests prescribed by your healthcare professional.
Sweating A Lot During Exercise
Sweating, as odd as it sounds, is actually good for you when you are exercising. It's the body's natural cooling system and prevents overheating. When you work out, sweating helps regulate your body temperature and indicates that you are healthy.
Regular Bowel Movements
If you are regularly passing stool, your gut is healthy. Pooping is crucial for your body to stay healthy. According to Dr Sethi, "Anywhere between 3 times a week to 3 times a day is completely normal and signals a healthy gut."
Rumbling Stomach
A growling and rumbling stomach can leave you embarrassed, but it is a sign of good health. It indicates that your intestines are busy working and actively moving food and gas. It is one of the signs that your gut is doing its job instead of lying around and doing nothing, like most of us on a Sunday.
Gums Don't Bleed While Brushing
Bleeding gums are not good and indicate an underlying health issue. Hence, when your gums don't bleed while brushing, it's a good sign. If they bleed, it can indicate inflammation or poor oral hygiene. When you brush next time, check your gums.
Burping After Drinking Carbonated Drinks
Many people can't hold themselves back from burping after drinking carbonated drinks. It is actually healthy and nothing to be embarrassed about. The process releases excess gas from the stomach and prevents bloating.
Skin Bounces Back When Pinched
One of the most unusual signs of good health is bouncy skin. When someone pinches your skin, and it bounces back, congratulations - you're healthy. "It signals good hydration and healthy skin elasticity," Dr Sethi noted.
Your Ears Produce Wax
The gunk that makes you squirm at the sight is a sign of a healthy body. Dr Sethi shared, "Earwax protects your ear canal by trapping dust, bacteria, and debris. It's not dirty - it's protective!" Before you go on a cleaning mission to scoop every bit of it from your ear using an entire toolbox, hold your horses. You can also visit an ENT for safe cleaning.
Runny Nose In Cold Weather
"Cold air triggers mucus production to warm and humidify the air entering your lungs. It's a healthy protective response!" revealed Dr Sethi. Just keep a handkerchief handy, and you will be sorted.
Sometimes the small things that may worry us are nothing but natural. If your body shows these signs, note that nothing is wrong with you. Your body is healthy and fit.
