The much-awaited pre-release event of Actor Yash-starrer 'Toxic' at a university in Hyderabad on Saturday evening turned distressing after the sound and lighting system at the venue collapsed amid a huge crowd, injuring five people.
The incident took place when thousands of people had gathered at the Malla Reddy University to see Yash. According to reports, several attendees went close to the stage as the police kept asking them to move back amid concerns over overcrowding. A video showed some young people even climbing onto structures around the venue.
As Yash was giving a speech on the stage, one of the sound and lightning system collapased.
The injured people were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Reports said that one of them had lost consciousness briefly.
As the actor got to know about the incident, he paused the speech and asked about the students' condition.
"Hey, careful. Is everything okay there? Is everyone safe?" he asked.
Seconds later, he asked the authorities to check on them. "Please check, sir. Please, students, be careful," he told the crowd.
Yash resumed the speech after the organisers told him that the situation was under control.
The film 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups' is set to be released on August 26 in Kannada, English, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam languages. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.
'Toxic' received an 'A' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
