Delhi Police has busted a hi-tech betting and gambling network operating from Mukundpur in Outer North Delhi, arresting 31 people, including the alleged mastermind, premises owner, software developer and financial handlers.

The Anti-Narcotics Squad of Outer North District Police conducted a raid on August 9 after receiving information about a gambling operation being run from a premises in Mukundpur. Police said 22 people were found allegedly involved in gambling at the spot.

During the raid, police recovered Rs 6.29 lakh in cash, 41 packs of playing cards, Jantri books, diaries, registers, 26 mobile phones and a whiteboard. A case was registered at Bhalswa Dairy police station under the Delhi Public Gambling Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The investigation later revealed that the operation was part of a larger software-based betting network rather than an isolated den.

According to police, the syndicate had different people handling specific roles. These included the main operator, premises owner, software developer, data entry operators, fund handlers, mediators, software deployers and agents involved in collecting money and relaying information through WhatsApp.

On August 12, police arrested Ranjeet, who has been identified as the alleged mastermind and main operator, along with Ramesh Kumar, the owner of the premises where the gambling operation was being conducted.

Further investigation led to the arrest of four more key members on August 18. They have been identified as Pramod Kumar, a data entry operator, Vipin Kumar Jain, a financial and fund handler, Khemchand alias Monu, a mediator and software deployer, and Rahul Dilwaliya, who allegedly developed the customised 'Jantri Satta' software used by the network.

Police recovered five laptops and five smartphones from them.

Investigators said the customised software was being used to record and process betting entries and manage the gambling operation.

The probe also allegedly revealed links with betting networks associated with Gali Disawar, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Delhi Bazar.

On August 20, police apprehended three more suspects identified as Amit, a data operator, Rahul Kumar, a collection and WhatsApp relay agent, and Nanak Sahu, who has been described as an upper-level link in the syndicate.

A raid at Nanak Sahus hideout led to the recovery of Rs 2.62 lakh in cash, a laptop, three smartphones and a Suzuki Burgman scooty.

Police said Nanak Sahu had previously been involved in two cases registered under the Gambling Act at Adarsh Nagar and Burari police stations.

The total recovery in the case includes Rs 8.92 lakh in cash and stake money, seven laptops, 38 smartphones, including 12 containing the custom software, as well as betting related data stored in the customised software.

Police also recovered 41 packs of playing cards, two Jantri books, diaries, registers and a whiteboard.

The investigation is continuing to trace the financial trail of the alleged syndicate and identify other people linked to the wider betting network. Police are also examining the seized laptops, smartphones and software to trace additional operators, betting transactions and the people who allegedly benefited from the operation.

Officials said efforts are underway to establish the complete network and its alleged links with betting operations in Delhi and neighbouring areas.
