India recorded 7,219 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 4,44,49,726.

Till date 5,27,965 people have died to the infection, including 25 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.

The active cases comprise 0.13 per cent of the total infections, with 98.68 per cent of the once infected people able to fight off the infection, the health ministry said.

Puducherry Logs 47 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

Puducherry confirmed 47 fresh cases of coronavirus today, raising overall tally to 1,72,981.

While Puducherry region alone witnessed 39 new cases, Karaikal reported five and Yanam three.

Mahe an enclave of Puducherry in Kerala had zero new case of viral infection.

The 47 fresh cases surfaced during examination of 871 samples, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release.

He said the active cases were 278 which comprised 10 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 268 in home quarantine.

As many as 62 patients recovered during last twenty-four hours and the overall recoveries were 1,70,734.

There was no fresh fatality today in any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. The death count remained 1,969.

Sriramulu said the Department of Health has tested so far 23,82,403 samples and found 20,17,599 to be negative.

The test positivity rate was 5.40 percent while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.14 percent and 98.70 percent, respectively.

The Health Department has administered so far 20,86,110 doses which comprised 9,89,319 first doses, 8,17,414 second doses and 2,79,377 booster doses, the Director said.

Maharashtra's Thane District Logs 170 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

Thane district in Maharashtra logged 170 new cases of coronavirus, taking the tally to 7,42,349, a health official said today.

After the addition of the latest cases on Friday, the district is now left with 2,222 active cases, he said.

With one fatality, the COVID-19 death count rose to 11,946.

The count of recoveries has gone up to 7,28,762 in the Thane district, which is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, he added.

Bengal Logs 254 New COVID-19 Cases On Friday

West Bengal's COVID-19 tally rose to 21,07,514 on Friday as 254 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

Two fresh fatalities pushed the number of deaths to 21,470.

The number of active cases dipped to 2,360 as 310 more people were cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,83,684.

The administration has tested 8,729 samples for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
