The Bihar Public Service Commission exam controller's use of a Hindi proverb to describe Patna's student protest triggered a massive row, with social media users claiming the officer compared the protesters with dogs.
Exam Controller Rajesh Kumar was addressing a press conference over the protest of job aspirants against BPSC. When a journalist asked a question about the answer sheet of the candidate who secured the third rank in the 70th BPSC, the officer replied, "The most important thing is that if you believe there is some truth to your allegations, why don't you go to court? This is not the Commission's job. You might have heard the saying: 'When an elephant moves in the market, a thousand dogs bark '.".
The remark prompted backlash on social media.
Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav arrived at the Gardanibagh protest site in support of the students and cited the BPSC exam controller's statement. He demanded an apology from the officer.

The officer later clarified his statement.
"A press conference was held, in which a proverb was quoted by me, which is being twisted and presented out of context on social media. I want to say that I had no intention of hurting the sentiments of any specific individual or group," he said in a video statement.
Since July, students have protested in several states to press for their demands.
In Delhi, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spearheaded a protest seeking Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation over NEET leaks. The protest was called off after Pradhan resigned.
Earlier this month, the protest of job aspirants in Jharkhand was called off after the Hemant Soren government accepted their demands.
