Bengaluru:

A 35-year-old woman has allegedly been brutally murdered by her husband following an argument over a financial dispute in north Bengaluru's Nagasandra.

Sources from the Peenya police station said the man, identified as Dhariyappa, reportedly got into a heated argument with his wife, Kavya, on Thursday over Rs 2 lakh that had been kept aside for household expenses. Dhariyappa reportedly intended to give the money to his brother.

As the argument escalated, Dhariyappa assaulted his wife and then stepped on her neck, causing her death.

The couple has two children - a son studying in Class 10 and a daughter in junior college. Police said the incident occurred when the children were away.

"Dhariyappa has been arrested. He was in the house with the body for two hours and then informed the police. Further investigation is underway," said a police official.
