- Asaduddin Owaisi criticised Assam Chief Minister Sarma's alleged bulldozer actions
- Owaisi urged Muslim voters to strengthen AIUDF leadership against oppressive forces
- He emphasised voting as a powerful tool to counter Sarma's "regressive politics"
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's alleged bulldozer actions, saying a "clear message" must be sent to him through the upcoming Assembly elections.
"The situation is very bad. And this situation demands that the Muslim community's leadership through the AIUDF is strengthened to tackle the oppressive forces. In a democracy, merely raising slogans does not work. We have to ensure, through voting, that a clear message is sent to Himanta Biswa Sarma about his regressive politics," Owaisi said during a poll rally in Guwahati.
He added, "We have to remain united to stop this. You must respond by voting on the day of the elections. In a democracy, your vote is a powerful weapon - use your conscience and political awareness."
He also dismissed the claims of the BJP's perceived advantage in the upcoming polls. "We don't believe it. We are here to ensure that as many AIUDF candidates as possible become MLAs. Our effort is to strengthen the political system in the state," he said.
Owaisi arrived in Assam on Wednesday ahead of the campaigning for the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) for the upcoming Assembly elections. He received a rousing welcome from AIUDF supporters at the airport, with party workers raising slogans and felicitating him with traditional Assamese 'gamosas'.
During the rally, Owaisi called upon the Muslim community to ensure that a maximum number of AIUDF candidates reach the Assembly as legislators. He also urged people to vote in order to protect the interests of the community.
"It is not a question of Badruddin Ajmal or Asaduddin Owaisi. The real question is who will raise your voice. You have supported the AIUDF, and you must further strengthen the party by voting for its candidates so that atrocities can be stopped," he added.
