New Delhi:

Four people died and two women were injured after a massive fire broke out at a footwear shop in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar today, Delhi Fire Service officials said.

Officials said that two of the victims were charred beyond recognition, and their identities are yet to be established. The other two individuals have been identified as Anita (38) and Satender (38).

Police said they recieved a PCR call about the blaze at the shop which was on the ground floor of a four-storey building

Police found the entire building engulfed in flames after rushing to the spot.

The fire is believed to have started from the footwear shop on the ground floor before spreading upward, said a senior police officer.

Four people were found dead at the spot, while two injured women were rescued from the building and shifted to a hospital, an officer said, adding that the condition of the 2 injured women is being monitored.

Crime and forensic teams have been called to inspect the site, and evidence is being collected to ascertain the cause of the fire, police said.
