A day after actor Rajiv Kapoor's death, Neetu Kapoor shared a family statement on her Instagram to announce that there will not no chautha in memory of the late actor "for safety reasons." In the statement, Neetu Kapoor said that the Kapoor family have decided to not host a prayer meet keeping the pandemic situation in mind. "Due to the current pandemic circumstances, there will be no chautha held for the late Mr Rajiv Kapoor for safety reasons. "May his soul rest in peace," Neetu Kapoor added in her post. Addressing fans mourning Rajiv Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor wrote: "The entire Raj Kapoor family is a part of your grief too."

Rajiv Kapoor was the son of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor. He was the brother of late actor Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor. On February 9, Rajiv Kapoor died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Chembur. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead, reported news agency ANI. Rajiv Kapoor was 58.
For Rajiv Kapoor's funeral, family members were spotted arriving one by one at the Kapoor house in Chembur. Neetu Kapoor, who lost her husband Rishi Kapoor last year, was escorted by son Ranbir Kapoor. Rajiv Kapoor's brother Randhir Kapoor performed the last rites - he was accompanied by daughter Karisma, whose sister Kareena is expecting her second baby and wasn't part of the funeral.
