- Bhooth Bangla's release has been postponed from April 10 to April 17, 2026
- Paid previews for Bhooth Bangla will start on April 16 at 9 PM
- The film reunites Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 16 years
Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Bhooth Bangla has been pushed ahead. As per a poster shared by Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Instagram, the Priyadarshan directorial, which was earlier scheduled to release on April 10, will now arrive in theatres on April 17.
That is not all – much like Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Bhooth Bangla will also have paid previews on April 16, a day before its release. The trend seems to have picked up after the Aditya Dhar directorial, starring Ranveer Singh, experimented with it. For context, the spy action thriller earned Rs 43 crore from these special screenings alone, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
Sharing the update on Instagram, Taran Adarsh wrote, “IT'S OFFICIAL... ‘BHOOTH BANGLA' PAID PREVIEWS ON 16 APRIL – FULL-FLEDGED RELEASE ON 17 APRIL 2026... #BhoothBangla – which reunites #AkshayKumar and director #Priyadarshan – will have paid previews on [Thursday] 16 April 2026 [from 9 pm], followed by a full-fledged release on 17 April 2026.”
This is not the first time Bhooth Bangla's release date has seen a shuffle. The film was originally slated to hit theatres on May 15. However, back in February, Akshay Kumar shared a poster on Instagram to confirm that the release had been preponed to April 10.
Ektaa Kapoor too took to Instagram, and shared a note which read, "After a collective call with our distributors and exhibitors, we have decided on a new release date for Bhooth Bangla, 16th April, with the first show starting at 9 PM. Dhurandhar: the Revenge performing eceptionally well is a heartening news for our film industry and the exhibitors feel that this shift will allow both films, the space, focus, and attention they deserve. The Bhooth Bangla team looks forward to welcoming you to cinemas on April 16th 9 PM onwards."
Bhooth Bangla also marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 16 years. The duo last worked together in the 2010 film Khatta Meetha.
Apart from Akshay, the horror-comedy features a strong ensemble cast, including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, and veteran star Asrani.
The film is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films. It is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa Kapoor.
