Live : Kolkata Uttar Assembly Election 2021

The Kolkata Uttar lok sabha constituency consists of Chowrangee, Entally, Beleghata, Jorasanko, Shyampukur, Maniktola and Kashipur- Belgachhia assembly segments. The Kolkata Uttar constituency lies within Kolkata North constituency. This constituency will go to polls on May 19, in the last phase of general election. The 2019 general election in the country is being in seven phases. The poll results will be released on May 23.

A total of 1443817 electorates have been registered in this constituency among which are 794275 male voters, 649527 female voters and 15 third gender voters. The voting will be held at 1862 polling stations in the constituency.

In 2014 polls, the voter turnout in this constituency was 66.68%. A total of 9103 votes were registered under NOTA option.

This time, Kolkata Uttar constituency will witness old contenders. Sitting MP Sudip Bandhopadhyay will contest this time as well as a TMC candidate, whereas BJP candidate Rahul Sinha who had second majority votes last time is again in fray for the Kolkata Uttar seat.

A total of 21 candidates are contesting for the Kolkata Uttar seat this time, among which are 2 women candidates.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay had won the Kolkata Uttar seat in 2014 general election by a margin of 96226 votes. He had contested the election with TMC ticket. Mr Bandopadhyay is currently in his third term of representing the constituency in the parliament.

This time Kolkata Uttar constituency will go to polls for the third time, after its formation in 2008 following the delimitation law for parliamentary and assembly constituencies.
