Live : Jadavpur Assembly Election 2021

The Jadavpur lok sabha constituency consists of seven assembly segments-- Baruipur Purba, Baruipur Paschim, Sonarpur Dakshin, Bhangar, Jadavpur, Sonarpur Uttar and Tollyganj. The Jadavpur lok sabha constituency is in the South 24 Parganas district. This constituency will go to polls in the last phase of 2019 general election on May 19. The poll results will be declared on May 23.

A total of 1816098 electorates have been registered from this constituency this time among which are 909061 male voters, 906962 female voters and 75 third gender voters. Voting will be held at 2042 polling stations.

79.88% voting was recorded in this constituency in 2014 general election.

Jadavpur will witness CPI (M)'s Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya and actress turned politician Mimi Chakraborty as key contenders. Ms Chakraborty will contest for the election with a TMC ticket.

The TMC bastion, Jadavpur, was in the stronghold of CPI (M) till 1996. In 2004, as well, the party regained the seat defeating TMC.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had represented this constituency in the 8th Lok Sabha, as a Congress candidate. Congress had won the Jadavpur seat in 1996 as well.

In 2014 general election, TMC candidate Dr. Sugata Bose had defeated CPI (M) candidate Sujan Chakraborty by a margin of 125203 votes.

Among other contestants are Bimal Krishna Mandal (BSP) and Anupam Hazra (BJP).
