Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency, which came to existence after the 2008 delimitation of parliamentary constituencies' process, goes to polls on April 11 in the first phase of general elections 2019. This Lok Sabha constituency had elected Bhavana Gawali of Shiv Sena in both the elections which were held after the delimitation. In 2014, Bhavana Gawali drubbed Shivajirao Moghe of Indian National Congress (INC or Congress) with a margin of 93,816 votes.
Bhavana Gawali bagged 4,77,905 votes while her nearest rival bagged 3,84,089 votes.
In 2009 general elections, Bhavana Gawali defeated Harising Rathod of Congress.
Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency has six assembly segments of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, which are Washim (SC), Karanja, Ralegaon (ST), Yavatmal, Digras and Pusad.
In 2019 general elections, Shiv Sena is repeating its two-time Member of Parliament Bhavana Gawali while Congress has fielded Manikrao G Thakare.
There are 19.14 lakh voters in Yavatmal-Washim constituency, of whom 9.93 lakh are males and 9.21 lakh are females. There are 2,206 polling centres in the constituency.
The first phase of polling in seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra on April 11, has 116 candidates in the fray. Over 1.30 crore voters are eligible to cast their vote in the first phase. In the first phase, Wardha, Ramtek, Nagpur,Bhandara-Gondiya, Gadchiroli-Chimur, Chandrapur andYavatmal-Washim constituencies will go to polls.
