Ramtek is one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra which goes to polls on April 11. In 2014 general elections, Krupal Balaji of Shiv Sena had defeated senior Indian National Congress (INC) leader Mukul Wasnik with a margin of 1,75,791. Mukul Wasnik who won the 2009 elections after the delimitation was the incumbent of Ramtek, a reserved constituency.
In 2014 general elections, while Krupal Balaji trounced the Congress candidate, he bagged 5,19,892 votes, his rival, Mukul Wasnik, has acquired 3,44,101 votes.
Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency has six assembly segments from Maharashtra Assembly which are: Katol, Savne, Hingna, Umred, Kamthi, and Ramtek
Ramtek has been a traditional Congress bastion till it was snatched by Shiv Sena in 1999 general elections for the first time. Shiv Sena has retained the seat for another three times except in 2009 general elections when Mukul Wasnik recaptured the constituency. Shiv Sena's wins include a bypoll victory from year 2007.
Kishore Uttamrao Gajbhiye (Congress), Kripal Tumane (Shiv Sena) and Subhash Dharamdas Gajbhiye (Vanchit Bahujan Agadi or VBA) are main contenders from this constituency for this general election which will be held in four phases in Maharashtra state.
In Ramtek constituency, 2,364 polling centres are provided for 9.96 lakh male and 9.24 lakh female voters totaling to 19.21 lakh voters.
The results of Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be declared on May 23.
