In 2014 general elections, Shiv Sena's Union Minister Anant Geete was elected from the Raigad Lok Sabha constituency with a slender margin of 2,110 votes. Geete was polled 3,96,178 votes while the runner-up Sunil Tatkare of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was polled 3,94,068.
In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Anant Geete is making his third attempt to bag the seat contesting former NCP state President Sunil Tatkare. Geete became a giant-killer in 2009 when he defeated late Congress Union Minister and former Chief Minister A.R. Antulay.
While Tatkare boasts of having the support of the Congress and the Mahagathbandhan, Geete got a pre-poll booster when Antulay's son Naved Antulay joined the party last month.
The constituency has 15,32,781 voters, including 7,52,491 males and 7,80,290 females.
In 2019 general elections, 61.81 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise in Raigad Lok Sabha constituency against 64.47 per cent in 2014.
The Raigad Lok Sabha constituency consists of six Assembly segments from Maharashtra Legislative Assemby; they are Pen, Alibag, Shrivardhan, Mahad, Dapoli and Guhagar.
