Bhiwandi, one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra, will vote on April 29 during the fourth phase of the general elections 2019. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kapil Moreshwar Patil of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won the elections defeating Vishwanath Ramchandra Patil of the Indian National Congress (INC or Congress) by a margin of 1,09,450. The winner polled 4,11,070 votes while the runner-up secured 3,01,620 votes.
The current Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency was formed after the 2018 delimitation process. In the 2009 elections, Suresh Taware of Congress had beaten Jagannath Patil of BJP with a margin of more than 40,000 votes.
Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency is comprised of six assembly segments of the Maharashtra state assembly-- Bhiwandi Rural, Shahapur, Bhiwandi West, Bhiwandi East, Kalyan West and Murbad.
Bhiwandi is going to polls on April 29 with other Lok Sabha constituencies like Nandurbar (ST), Dhule, Dindori (ST), Nashik, Palghar (ST), Kalyan, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South -Central, Mumbai South, Maval, Shirur and Shirdi (SC) in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra will vote in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections in four phases.
