Nanabhau Falgunrao Patole of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won this Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 general elections defeating senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel over a margin of more than 1.4 lakh votes. Mr. Patole was polled 6,06,129 votes while the runner-up garnered 4,56,875. In 2009, in the first Lok Sabha elections held after the 2008 delimitation of the constituencies, Mr Patel had defeated Mr Patole with a margin of more than 2.5 lakh votes.
However, in a 2018 bypoll, NCP candidate Madhukar Kukade defeated BJP's Hemant Shrawan Patle.
Polling to Bhandara - Gondiya Lok Sabha constituency was held in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, on April 11.
This Lok Sabha constituency has six assembly seats- Tumsar, Bhandara, Sakoli, Arjuni Morgaon, Tirora and Gondia; out of the total six, two are reserved segments - Bhandara and Arjuni Morgaon. Three assembly seats from this Lok Sabha constituency are in Bhandara district, while the other three are in Gondia district.
The Bhandara-Gondiya constituency has 2,184 polling centres for 9.05 lakh male and 9.03 lakh female voters.
The results will be announced on May 23.
