In 2014 Lok Sabha elections , Anandrao Vithoba Adsul of Shiv Sena defeated Navneet Ravi Rana of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for a margin of 1,37,932 in Amravati Lok Sabha seat. The Shiv Sena candidate Anandrao Adsul was pooled 4,67,212 in the General Elections to 16th Lok Sabha while his Ms Rana emerged runner-up with 3,29,280.
In 19991, former President of India, Pratibha Patil won the seat under the Banner of Indian National Congress (INC). In 1996 Anantrao Gudhe of Shiv Sena and Gavai Ramkrishna Suryabhan of Republican Party of India (RPI) in 1998 won the seat.
For the last four elections, from 1999, Anandrao Adsul is continuously winning the seat on behalf of Shiv Sena.
This Lok Sabha seat is consisted of 6 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra Assembly, which include Badnera, Amravati, Teosa, Daryapur, Melghat, and Achalpur, out of which two of them are reserved seats; Daryapur and Melghat.
In general elections 2019, independent MLA Ravi Rana's local outfit Yuva Swabhiman Party will contest the Amravati seat (from NCP quota) for the Congress alliance against the incumbent Adsul.
This seat will go to polls on April 18, during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Lok Sabha elections to total 48 seats in Maharashtra will be held in four phases on April 11, 18, 23 and 29 and the results will be declared on May 23.
