The DUSU Elections 2025-26 vote counting will take place on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 8:00 AM onwards at the Multipurpose Hall, University Sports Stadium, North Campus, University of Delhi. 

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) condemned incidents of alleged violence during the DUSU elections at multiple locations, including Kirori Mal College and Hansraj College, holding the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) responsible. The organisation has demanded strict action from the administration.

ABVP alleged that NSUI resorted to violence out of fear of defeat, describing the incidents as a result of the rival group’s frustration.

The ABVP dismissed NSUI’s claims regarding alleged irregularities with EVMs and other charges, calling them baseless and devoid of facts.

According to ABVP, it would strongly oppose what it described as the “false narrative” propagated by the student wing of the Congress party and its supporters.

ABVP's National General Secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said, “The Congress party and Rahul Gandhi always blame the electoral process when they face defeat. The students of Delhi University will give them a fitting reply.”

On the alleged incident of ink being thrown on EVMs at a DU college, ABVP demanded that CCTV footage be released to expose NSUI’s false claims.

Convoys of SUVs and motorbikes moved through the streets, with young supporters leaning from windows and distributing bundles of pamphlets to the public, reports PTI. The streets emerged as the primary site of political activity after the court limited poster pasting to the designated “Walls of Democracy.” By the day of polling, even those permitted spaces stood bare, shifting the entire contest to the roads.

At Kirori Mal College, first-time voter Anjali expressed her excitement, comparing the DUSU elections to larger polls. ''I've never voted before, but the security here feels like a state Assembly or Lok Sabha election. It's great to be part of this process.''

Delhi University is experiencing its first 'clean and green elections' in years, with strict enforcement of the Lyngdoh Committee's anti-defacement guidelines. Students are welcoming the change, with Sumit Singh of Hansraj College noting, 'Last year, the roads were so full of posters and pamphlets that you could barely see them. This year feels very refreshing.

"Voting is going on in most of the colleges and the data we have received from seven colleges till now has a voting per cent of 35 per cent. We can say largely this would be the trend in most of the colleges, going by past year's record, " Chief Election Officer Raj Kishore Sharma told PTI.

NSUI Presidential Candidate Joslyn Nandita Choudhary accused the Delhi University administration of interfering in the elections. She stated: "Every EVM has blue ink marking the name of the candidate from the ABVP, from Hansraj College to Kirorimal College. Teachers are involved in these unfair practices. I have removed the blue ink from my hands on all the EVMs. One of my supporters has been assaulted since day one. I want to ask the Delhi government and the world-who is responsible for the cheating I have faced over the last 4-5 hours? Who will ensure justice? Who will acknowledge all the hard work I have put in? I have worked tirelessly, not just in the last few hours, but throughout the year. I am just an ordinary student-how can someone like me contest under these conditions? This is happening with every EVM, including at Kirorimal College, where I study. I have requested teachers not to do this, but as soon as I stepped away, they marked the EVMs again."

Shikhar Suri, a student of Ram Lal College, told news agency PTI, "Votes here are sometimes cast out of greed and sometimes based on actual work. I want to see further developments. For instance, our college fest couldn't take place for 3-4 years, but it finally happened last year. I'm not sure who will come to power this time, but I hope for a better RLA, a better South Campus, and a better Delhi University."

The Delhi High Court has issued strict order against victory processions anywhere in the national capital after the results of DUSU polls on September 19.

Apart from safety concerns, student campaigns highlighted the need for subsidised metro and bus passes to make travel more affordable. Calls for setting up additional police posts and ensuring stricter action against harassment have also been raised. Strengthening internal complaints committees remained a recurring demand across several groups.

To ensure the elections are conducted without disruption, the university has tightened security on campuses, making the event one of the most closely observed in recent times. Nearly 700 EVMs will be deployed across 195 polling stations.

This year, 21 students are contesting for the four key panel positions. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used for polling, and counting of votes is scheduled for Friday.

The results will decide who becomes president, vice-president, secretary, and joint secretary positions of the DUSU, along with representatives for college-level offices.

Around 2.8 lakh students across 52 colleges are eligible to cast their votes.
