NEET 2021 Topper: Once a Chemical Engineering aspirant, Mrinal Kutteri decided to be a doctor as a Class 9 student when he realized that the medical field would give him a better opportunity to serve the society, and a career in healthcare would always be interesting and challenging. He has secured the all India rank 1 in NEET 2021, scoring a perfect 720 out of 720 marks. The NEET topper aims to join the MBBS course at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
From Hyderabad, Mr Kutteri's father is a HR consultant and mother is a software engineer.
About his preparation strategy, Mr Kutteri said he never tried to micromanage a day.
"I had a free form strategy. Whenever I tried to micromanage my day, I failed miserably at it. Instead of trying to keep up with a detailed schedule and failing at it, I decided to do what suits my limitation. I started the day with a target in mind, for instance, n number of lessons and how to finish the target was figured as the day went on...I know time-table works for a lot of people, I have nothing against it. It is just that it did not work for me. Instead, I strived to finish my day-to-day targets. Again, I am not saying I finished these daily targets each time but that was my approach," Mr Kutteri tod Careers360.
"For me, mental fatigue was a real thing. Especially towards the end of it, as they say the last mile is always the most difficult. Whenever I felt tired, I did what I had to do to unwind. I played table tennis, listened to music or watched something on Netflix or Prime Video. I did not beat myself over taking breaks."
"For a while now, my aim has been to study in AIIMS, Delhi. To be frank, that is possible now. I would like to pursue my MBBS there. I believe that I don't even know the vast scope of medicine right now. But I have five years to figure this out. Based on my limited knowledge, I think I will be more interested in surgery or something along those lines," Mr Kutteri said.
