Prerana is an experiential learning programme, an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education. The ministry launched the programme aiming to offer a meaningful, unique, and inspiring experience to all participants, thereby empowering them with leadership qualities.
In a social media post on X, the Education Ministry noted:
"Prerana achieves yet another milestone, by reaching its 100th batch overall with the launch of the 19th batch of Cycle 2!"
As per official record, Prerana is a week-long residential programme for selected students of Classes 9 to 12. "It is an experiential and inspirational learning programme for students with the best-in-class technology where heritage meets innovation," the official report stated. Under this scheme, a batch of 20 selected students (10 boys and 10 girls) attend the programme, every week from various parts of the country.
Nilanjana Das, a participant from the Malda district of West Bengal, shared her experience in a video message, stating:
"I was informed that we are the 100th batch, and seeing a mini India I felt absolutely elated and I made many new friends."
According to a report by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the curriculum of Prerana School prepared by IIT Gandhi Nagar is rooted in nine value based themes: Swabhiman and Vinay, Shaurya and Sahas, Parishram and Samarpan, Karuna and Sewa, Vividhta and Ekta, Satyanishtha and Shuchita, Navachar and Jigyasa, Shraddha and Vishwas, and Swatantrata and Kartavya.
The initiative aims to inspire the youth and foster respect for Bharat's unity in diversity, embodying the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" and to contribute by making the youth of today, a flame holder for Viksit Bharat, the report stated.
The day-wise programme schedule featured yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions, followed by experiential learning, thematic sessions, and hands on interesting learning activities. Evening activities included visits to ancient and heritage sites, inspirational film screenings, mission life creative activities, talent shows etc. ensuring a holistic learning approach.
Additionally, students were engaged in various activities, embracing indigenous knowledge systems, latest State-of-Art technologies, and learning from inspirational personalities.
