Technology usage has seen a sharp rise, and with each passing day, individuals are becoming increasingly reliant on their smart devices. Although the primary goal of technology is to support and simplify life for users, it can occasionally result in serious complications. A recent incident from Navi Mumbai highlights this concern, where a woman accidentally drove her Audi Q3 SUV into a ditch. Upon investigation, she attributed the mishap to Google Maps, claiming the navigation app had directed her along an incorrect route.
As per reports, the 29-year-old woman was driving to Ulwe and was supposed to cross the Belapur Bay bridge. However, Google Maps redirected her to take the route underneath the bridge, unaware that she had taken a left turn onto the service road, which was a dead end towards the Dhruvatara Jetty.
The incident took place at around 1 am on Friday. One more reason for the low visibility might be the showers at the time. However, the coastal security police came to the rescue, and the Audi Q3 was pulled to a safe spot with a hydraulic crane.
In an interaction with the media, Santosh Kane, Senior Inspector, Coastal Security Police, highlighted that the police noticed the car driving toward the creek and his team signalled the woman to stop. However, before the woman could bring the car to a halt, it was already late, leading to the mishap.
Adding further, he also said that the woman fell into a 10-foot-deep creek. However, she was quick enough to open the door and managed to stay afloat for a while. Meanwhile, the marine official reached out to her rescue and pulled her onto the boat. Reports suggest that the woman is safe and faced no major injuries.
