Volkswagen has opened pre-bookings for its upcoming Tayron R-Line SUV in India ahead of its market launch later this month, marking the brand's entry into the premium three-row SUV segment. Customers can reserve the flagship seven-seater with a token amount of Rs 51,000 at authorised dealerships or via Volkswagen's online channels.
The Tayron R-Line will be locally assembled in India and positioned as Volkswagen's new flagship SUV for the market. Built on the MQB EVO platform shared with the Tiguan R-Line, the three-row model uses a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. Volkswagen claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 224 kmph.

In line with its positioning, the Tayron R-Line is being introduced as a fully loaded model with features, many of which the company says are segment-leading. On the outside, it gets IQ. Light HD Matrix headlamps, R-Line styling elements, 19-inch alloy wheels, and illuminated front and rear logos. Volkswagen says the SUV offers traditional SUV proportions with a premium German design appeal.

The cabin focuses on space and comfort with an expansive interior, panoramic sunroof, and ergonomic front seats. The dashboard is anchored by a 15-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, and an AR head-up display. The front seats offer 12-way electric adjustment with memory, ventilation, massage, and lumbar support, while the ambient lighting system provides 30 colour options with an illuminated R insert on the dashboard.

On the safety front, the Tayron R-Line is equipped with nine airbags, electronic stability control, hill ascent and descent functions, and multiple drive modes via driver profile selection. It also features Level 2 ADAS with 14 assistance functions. Other highlights include a 3-zone climate control system, gesture-controlled tailgate, a 700-watt Harman Kardon audio system, dual high-power USB-C ports, and wireless charging.
Volkswagen will offer the Tayron R-Line in seven exterior colours, including Dolphin Grey, Oyster Silver, Ultraviolet, Cipressino-Green, Nightshade Blue, Grenadilla Black, and Oryx White Mother-of-Pearl. With this launch, the company aims to strengthen its presence in India's premium SUV space alongside models such as the Taigun, Virtus, and Tiguan R-Line.
