Volkswagen is preparing to introduce the facelifted version of its popular compact SUV, the Taigun, in India. Following the recent launch of the updated Skoda Kushaq, its mechanical cousin, the Taigun facelift, has been spotted testing multiple times, and fresh images now give us a clearer look at what to expect before the official debut.

The latest set of pictures, shared online by Auto Vahan, shows several Taigun SUVs parked together in a lot. While these vehicles were not photographed in India, the design cues confirm that they are indeed the facelifted Taigun. It is important to note that the models seen are international trims, and the Indian version may feature minor differences tailored to local preferences and regulations.

From the front, the facelifted Taigun sports a bold new grille design, flanked by gloss black detailing and a silver D-shaped skid plate. The headlamps appear to have been reworked, with styling cues reminiscent of the Tiguan R-Line, including a sleek LED light bar that connects the units across the fascia. The fog lamps are expected to be integrated into the bumper, giving the SUV a sharper, more premium look.

Moving to the side profile, the overall silhouette remains unchanged, but fresh alloy wheel designs add a touch of novelty. The wheels are machined units, complemented by thick black cladding along the lower body, which reinforces the SUV's rugged appeal. At the rear, the connected tail lamp setup continues, though Volkswagen has revised the internal detailing to create a more modern and distinctive lighting signature.

Dimensionally, the Taigun facelift is expected to remain the same as the outgoing model, ensuring familiarity for existing customers. Inside, however, Volkswagen is likely to introduce updates inspired by the new Kushaq. Expect a refreshed cabin layout with a new colour scheme, enhancing the sense of modernity and premium comfort.

Under the hood, the Taigun facelift will continue with the proven 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI petrol engines. The 1.0-litre unit produces 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a manual gearbox or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The larger 1.5-litre TSI engine delivers 150 hp and 250 Nm, exclusively mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. These powertrains have already established themselves as strong performers in the segment, balancing efficiency with driving excitement.

With the Kushaq facelift already on sale, the Taigun update is expected to arrive soon, bringing sharper styling, a refreshed cabin, and familiar yet capable engines to keep Volkswagen's SUV competitive in India's fast-growing mid-size SUV market.
