Triumph is preparing to roll out a new range of 350cc motorcycles for India in April 2026, marking a significant shift in strategy for its partnership with Bajaj Auto. As per reports, the new bikes will sit below the existing 400cc line-up of the brand and are aimed at India's increasingly price-sensitive premium segment.

Triumph's Current Entry-Level Range

The 350 cc range is ready for market and will go on sale in April, reports revealed. The new range will effectively create a new entry point into the Triumph brand. At present, Triumph's made-in-India portfolio is built around a 399 cc single-cylinder platform that underpins models like the Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X and related models. With no product sitting under the 350cc mark, these bikes are directly exposed to higher taxation under the revised GST 2.0 regime.

Why Shift To Smaller Engine?

Under the new tax structure, motorcycles above 350 cc attract a steep 40 per cent GST slab, clubbed with so-called "luxury" products. By downsizing the engine to around 350 cc, Bajaj and Triumph can move the new models into a lower 18 per cent GST bracket, giving them room to price the bikes more aggressively.

Industry data suggests that the 350cc-500cc category already accounts for a small slice of overall motorcycle sales in India, and the higher tax burden risks shrinking that share further.

The new 350cc engines are expected to be derived from the existing 399 cc unit, with changes to stroke or bore and fresh calibration to preserve the familiar Triumph character while improving low and mid-range usability. Bajaj and Triumph are likely to keep export models on the 398-399 cc platform, while the downsized 350s focus on domestic buyers who want the Triumph badge without crossing into the higher tax band.

For customers, the shift to a smaller capacity is less about cutting performance and more about keeping ownership costs in check. With launch plans locked in for April, the upcoming Triumph 350 cc Speed and Scrambler are poised to become crucial products for the brand in India, sitting under the 400cc range and broadening its reach in the premium entry-level space.
