A Xiaomi SU7 Pro electric vehicle has defied common concerns about EV longevity by accumulating 2.65 lakh km in just 18 months, while its battery maintains an impressive 94.5 percent health. Owner Mr. Feng, who uses the rear-wheel-drive sedan for daily commutes, shared the service center report on social media, sparking widespread discussion on battery durability in high-mileage scenarios.
The report, from a Xiaomi-authorized service center, details the 94.3 kWh battery's performance after heavy use. Mr. Feng averaged around 600 km per day, totaling about 506 full charge-discharge cycles based on an estimated 18 kWh per 100 km consumption. CNC's report quotes the owner of the EV expressing surprise at the results, having anticipated degradation below 90 percent. "I thought it would be around 90% at most."

Beyond the battery, the vehicle's other components show minimal wear. Tire tread depth measures 8 mm, nearly matching new tires at 8.6 mm, and brake pads remain unused. Coolant levels are stable at 38 degree Celsius with no signs of water contamination, indicating robust thermal management under intense operation.

This case challenges perceptions that electric vehicles suffer rapid battery decline. Most manufacturers offer warranties guaranteeing 70-80% capacity after 8 years or 150,000-200,000 km. Mr. Feng's SU7 has already surpassed these thresholds with only 5.5% degradation. He credits efficient DC fast charging habits and notes financial benefits, estimating savings of over 100,000 yuan (about Rs 11.5 lakh or $14,300) compared to a petrol car over the period.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun amplified the story by reposting it, fueling online buzz. While social media users praised the machine, experts pointed out that results depend on factors like charging patterns, ambient temperatures, and driving style; one vehicle's data isn't universal.
Launched in 2024, the Xiaomi SU7 has gained traction in China as an affordable performance EV, starting around 215,900 yuan (Rs 25 lakh). As per CNC's report, Mr. Feng aims for 600,000 km in three years, potentially setting further benchmarks. For Indian audiences eyeing EVs amid rising fuel costs, this underscores maturing battery tech, though local charging infrastructure and import duties remain hurdles.
