Tesla Making Indian Debut Tomorrow

Tesla, the US-based automaker, is set to make its India debut tomorrow, that is the 15th of July. After a long tussle with the Indian government, Tesla has found a reliable ground in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex for its authorized showroom.

While the Elon Musk-owned electric car manufacturer was considering establishing a manufacturing plant in India, recent news suggests that Tesla is not interested in it anymore. This suggests that the Tesla car will be available in India as an import, probably from China. The brand is also looking forward to setting up a showroom in Delhi, after Mumbai.

The vehicles included six of Tesla's best-selling Model Y at a shipment value of USD 32,500 each for five cars, and USD 46,000 for the long-range version, as well as several superchargers.

While the official announcement is awaited, the custom records and spy images of the Tesla Model Y suggest that it will be the brand's first offering in the Indian market, followed by other affordable cars like the Tesla Model 3.

Talking about the specs, the Tesla Model Y comes with a single configuration option. To enhance its performance, the vehicle is fitted with an all-wheel-drive system as well as a long-range battery. It has an EPA-rated range of 526 kilometers. In terms of speed, this electric SUV can accelerate to 96 kilometers per hour in just 4.6 seconds. Furthermore, it boasts a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
