The petrol lineup of the Sierra features Tata's completely new 160hp, 255Nm 1.5-litre 4-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from AISIN, in addition to its 106hp, 145Nm naturally aspirated version (which uses an Atkinson cycle for efficiency) coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The diesel variant of the Sierra is equipped with the well-known 118hp 1.5-litre engine, offering both 6-speed manual (260Nm) and 6-speed automatic (280Nm) options.

The new SUV is built on the All-Terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable (ARGOS) framework, which accommodates various body styles and powertrain options, including CNG and hybrid versions, along with both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. As previously reported, Tata is exploring CNG and hybrid engine options for selected models, and the Sierra may include these features in the future. At present, the Sierra is a front-wheel drive vehicle without an all-wheel drive system.

The design of the Tata Sierra is boxy, drawing inspiration from its predecessor while incorporating several modern elements. The SUV features a vertical stance with extensive use of gloss-black panels that connect the LED headlights and daytime running lights to the brand's emblem and "Sierra" branding. Additionally, it is enhanced by a skid plate and two fog lights integrated into the front bumper.

Inside, the Tata Sierra offers a high-end cabin highlighted by three dashboard screens—one for the driver and two for infotainment, capable of seamless content sharing. It carries over the four-spoke steering wheel from the Tata Curvv, which features an illuminated Tata logo and touch-sensitive controls, along with a 12-speaker JBL sound system, the segment's first SonicShaft soundbar, dual-zone climate control, the largest panoramic sunroof in India, a wireless charger, rear sunshades, ventilated and powered front seats, and more. To further enhance comfort, the Sierra includes soft-touch materials throughout the cabin and a floating armrest for a contemporary and luxurious feel.
