Skoda Auto has officially revealed the name of its forthcoming seven-seat electric SUV, which will serve as the company's flagship EV offering. The model will be called Skoda Peaq, and the brand has already shared a teaser showcasing the rear profile of the production-ready vehicle. This SUV is essentially the road-going version of the Vision 7S Concept, a design study that first captured global attention in 2022.
The Vision 7S was initially unveiled in August 2022 and quickly became a talking point across international markets. Its bold proportions and futuristic styling introduced Skoda's new 'Modern Solid' design philosophy, a direction that emphasizes sustainability, functionality, and advanced technology. The concept made waves again in India during the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, where it drew significant interest from enthusiasts and industry watchers alike. Building on that momentum, Skoda has now confirmed that the production model will carry the name Peaq, symbolizing its peak position in the brand's portfolio.
The Peaq is being developed with a clear focus on versatility. Skoda intends it to resonate with both families seeking comfort and adventurers looking for practicality. The teaser image highlights the SUV's distinctive LED taillight signature, hinting at a strong visual identity. With three rows of seating, the Peaq promises generous cabin space, making it suitable for those who balance professional commitments with leisure and travel.
Although Skoda has not disclosed every detail, the company has confirmed that the Peaq will make its global debut in the summer of 2026. Certain design elements from the Vision 7S are unlikely to carry over to production. For instance, the concept featured suicide doors, lacked a B-pillar, and used rear-view cameras instead of mirrors. The Peaq, however, is expected to adopt more conventional solutions such as standard B-pillars and traditional ORVMs to meet safety and regulatory requirements.
Inside, Skoda is expected to retain several innovative features showcased in the concept. These include sporty seats, a distinctive double D-cut steering wheel, and a rotating infotainment display that can switch between portrait and landscape orientations. Smart dials for climate and audio control, dual wireless charging pads, and a sleek digital instrument cluster are also likely to be part of the package, ensuring a modern and connected driving experience.
