In October, Nissan unveiled its upcoming SUV, the Tekton, confirming its launch for the second quarter of 2026. Ahead of the debut, the company has already begun testing prototypes to ensure real-world performance. During one such trial, a Tekton test mule was spotted stuck in snow, sparking online buzz. The viral video offered enthusiasts a glimpse of the SUV's overall design and exterior styling, even though the vehicle remained heavily camouflaged to conceal finer details.

The video circulating online shows Nissan's Tekton prototype caught in a snow patch near Rohtang Pass. The test vehicle, heavily camouflaged to conceal its design, was stranded until Himachal Police officials stepped in to help. In the clip, the SUV is seen being towed back onto the concrete road surface by a Maruti Suzuki Gypsy, creating quite a buzz among 4X4 enthusiasts. The incident not only highlighted the challenges of real-world testing but also offered a rare glimpse of the Tekton.

The Rohtang-Manali stretch has long been a preferred testing ground for automakers, particularly in early winter when snow creates extreme driving conditions. Its steep inclines and harsh weather make it ideal for assessing cold-start performance, traction, braking, and suspension durability. The route frequently hosts domestic and international test teams validating prototypes before launch. Yet, unpredictable snowfall and hidden ice patches often disrupt trials, as highlighted by this particular incident.

While the test vehicle hides most of the design highlights, the brand has already revealed the exterior details of the SUV in its October event. Nissan states that the Tekton's design draws heavy inspiration from the flagship Patrol SUV. At the front, it features a flat, upright bonnet paired with a striking horizontal light bar that links the headlamps. The bold bumper further enhances its commanding stance. Adding to the premium SUV vibe, the 'TEKTON' motif will be prominently placed on the bonnet, reminiscent of Land Rover styling.

Previous images of the Tekton also show that the Nissan Tekton carries flared wheel arches that add muscle to its upright stance. The rear door handles are uniquely positioned on the pillar, while the bold rear fascia ensures a commanding presence. Cohesive styling gives it a global appeal, with taillamps reminiscent of the Patrol. Interiors remain undisclosed, though a minimalistic cabin approach is expected.

For now, Nissan has only showcased the design of the upcoming Tekton, keeping specifications and rival details under wraps. It can be expected that the SUV could arrive with multiple powertrain options, including naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and hybrid choices. Positioned above the Magnite in Nissan's line-up, the Tekton is set to challenge popular mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, and others, marking Nissan's renewed push in India's competitive SUV segment.
