Renault is preparing to refresh its entry-level Kwid, aiming to strengthen its position in the competitive small-car segment. Since its debut in 2015, the Kwid has been a cornerstone of Renault's success in the country. However, sales have slowed in recent years, prompting the brand to roll out a facelifted version to better challenge rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Tata Tiago.

The Kwid currently exists in its facelifted first-generation form, but Renault is also working on an electric version based on the updated design. This EV has been spied testing multiple times, though it remains unclear whether Renault India will follow Brazil's approach of offering distinct designs for ICE and EV models. The Kwid has long stood out as one of the few A-segment SUVs in India, borrowing equipment from the larger Duster in its early years, which added to its appeal.

Recent spy shots of the facelifted Kwid test mule abroad reveal partial camouflage. The front fascia is heavily covered, hinting at updates to the headlights, DRL signature, and the inclusion of Renault's new logo. At the rear, camouflage suggests revised LED tail lamps and a refreshed bumper design. Interestingly, the test mule lacked a faux skid plate, pointing to a lower variant. Another noticeable change is the repositioned shark-fin antenna, replacing the conventional front-mounted unit seen on the current Brazilian model.

Mechanically, the Kwid facelift is expected to retain the proven 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This unit delivers 68 hp and 92.5 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. While no major mechanical changes are anticipated, Renault may fine-tune efficiency and performance to keep the model competitive.
