BMW Group India is set to launch the second-gen 2 Series Gran Coupe in the Indian market on July 17. Meanwhile, the Bavarian brand has already initiated the pre-bookings for the model starting today. The prospective consumers of the brand can book the vehicle via the online portal or dealerships in the country. Before we dive into the details, it is to be noted that initially, the brand will only offer the petrol power variant of the vehicle called the 218 Gran Coupe.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is based on the UKL2 platform of the brand, which is the same as its predecessor. Hence, the wheelbase and the width of the car are the same at 2,670 mm and 1,800 mm, respectively. However, the length has now increased by 20 mm to 4,546 mm, while the height has increased by 25 mm to 1,445 mm. With this, the car offers 430 litres of space.

Along with the dimensions, there are changes in the appearance. The car now features a sharper design, thanks to the adaptive LED headlight and a backlight grille. Because of the M Sport treatment, the car gets a sharper design for the bumper, along with blacked-out elements. All of this is complemented by the presence of 18-inch alloy wheels, which come as a standard offering.
On the inside, the BMW 218 Gran Coupe M Sport showcases the brand's signature minimalist style. The highlight is a curved glass panel that connects the 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with a driver-centric 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, angled towards the driver for better visibility. These displays operate on BMW's latest OS9 software. The upholstery on the seats and doors comes in a consistent dark mocha brown color, although different upholstery options are also offered.
A panoramic sunroof comes standard, along with features such as a wireless charger, wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, automatic parking, an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), and a digital key that enables remote control of basic functions like lock/unlock, pre-cooling of the cabin, and boot access.
Initially, the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe will be available solely in petrol versions. Under the hood, it has a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque, with power transmitted to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. With all of this, the car is a suitable rival for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
