BMW India recently launched the M2 CS in the Indian market. It was brought into the country as a limited import, track-focused performance coupe. Now, the brand is going to bring back the car, with bookings and deliveries expected to resume in the near future. Priced at Rs 1.66 crore (ex-showroom), the M2 CS will once again be sold as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU), with only a small allocation of units available for the country.

Positioning and Pricing

The M2 CS is positioned as the most powerful and performance oriented derivative of the M2 line-up in India, carrying a premium of around Rs 64 lakh over the standard M2, which is priced at approximately Rs 1.02 crore (ex-showroom).

BMW M2 CS: Powertrain

Under the bonnet, the M2 CS uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six engine that generates 530 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, figures that align with the larger M4 Competition. The setup returns a claimed 0-100 kmph sprint time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 302 kmph, with the car restricted to an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. There is no manual option offered on the CS variant.

BMW M2 CS: Chassis

BMW has trimmed roughly 30 kilograms from the standard M2 by using a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic bonnet and roof panel, contributing to a more agile and track-oriented character. The CS also features a revised suspension layout with bespoke dampers and springs, lowering the ride height by about 8 mm and sharpening handling response.

All of these elements are paired with standard features, which include exclusive CS forged M light-alloy wheels that have a double-spoke design and a matt Gold Bronze finish. The front wheels measure 19 inches in diameter, while the rear wheels are 20 inches, both equipped with track tires.
