Mahindra Thar Roxx teaser

Mahindra & Mahindra has entered 2026 with guns blazing. The brand kicked off the year by launching the XUV 7XO and the XUV 3XO EV. Now, unexpectedly, the automaker has released a new teaser showcasing the silhouette of the Thar Roxx. The teaser does not disclose any specific details about the SUV, which has ignited speculation about what it could be.

Chances are, the brand is planning to launch a special edition version of the Thar Roxx. Considering the possibilities, it can be an all-black edition, as we have previously seen with the Scorpio-N and the XUV700. For the aforementioned models, these versions were called Black or Ebony editions. They came with an all-black exterior, including dark paint, blacked-out elements replacing chrome, and subtle badges representing the special version.

If this is the case, we can expect the Thar Roxx to come with an all-black exterior and minor cosmetic revisions. A similar pattern will be followed in the cabin of the SUV with black upholstery and other elements to match the theme. If not this, this can be a special edition like the Earth Edition of Thar. In other words, a version that brings aesthetic changes, sticking to a unique theme.

The third possibility is that the teaser might be a hint at a subtle facelift planned for 2026. If this is accurate, the changes are likely to be limited and primarily cosmetic. Expected enhancements could include an improved infotainment touchscreen, updated seat materials, and minor updates to the interior. Additionally, there may be slight exterior modifications aimed at preserving the visual appeal of the Thar Roxx.

In any case, we expect the Mahindra Thar Roxx to continue with the same powertrain. Currently, it comes with the option of a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Transmission options include an AT and an MT. The diesel engine gets the option of a 4x4 variant, justifying its off-road capabilities.
