Lexus India, the luxury vehicle manufacturing arm of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, has issued a recall for its LX luxury SUV. The SUV, sold at a starting price of Rs 2.80 crore (ex-showroom), has been recalled over a possible issue with the transmission. It pertains to 117 units of the model manufactured between 06 March 2025 and 29 September 2025.
Based on the automaker's official announcement, the Lexus LX is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which uses linear solenoids for controlling the shifting gears. If the solenoid fails under certain driving conditions, the transmission control unit and the engine ECU may not communicate the failure because of an issue with the software. If not addressed, it might result in transmission over-revving in certain gears.

The automaker states, "This could result in damage to the transmission and a loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds. If damage occurs to the transmission housing, there is also the possibility for transmission fluid to leak from the housing."

The problem can be fixed by an update to the control unit firmware. It is to be noted that this recall is in sync with an international recall issued by the automaker for the SUV. Overall, this is the fourth recall for the current generation of the LX since its debut. In a broader perspective, it goes against the brand's image of creating highly reliable models.
Currently, the Indian market has the Lexus LX 500d variant on sale, which comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission paired with a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which produces 304 hp of power and 700 Nm of torque at the peak of its performance. To make things better, the vehicle is equipped with an adaptive variable suspension and four-wheel active height control.
