JSW Motors is preparing to make its debut in India's passenger vehicle market with the launch of its first SUV, scheduled to arrive before Diwali. The upcoming model will be built on the Jetour T2 platform and will feature a hybrid powertrain, positioning it within the new wave of electrified SUVs expected to hit Indian roads this year.
This launch marks the beginning of JSW Motors' journey as a car manufacturer, as the company looks to establish its own product line tailored to Indian driving conditions. The SUV is expected to balance practicality with innovation, offering electric assistance for urban commutes while relying on petrol power for longer highway journeys.In an interaction with CNBC-TV18 India, Managing Director - Parth Jindal reaffirmed the launch schedule and emphasized that preparations for the upcoming festive season are progressing smoothly.

Globally, the Jetour T2 is offered with conventional internal combustion engines, but JSW Motors has opted for a different approach in India. Staying aligned with its vision of sustainable mobility, the company will introduce the Jetour T2 i-DM, a plug-in hybrid variant powered by a 1.5-litre system. Internationally, this model is available in both all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive configurations, thought which version will be offered to Indian buyers, is yet to be revealed.
Jetour, a premium sub-brand of Chery Automobile established in 2018, has built its reputation around SUVs and crossovers. The T2 stands out for its spacious design and rugged styling, drawing inspiration from the iconic Land Rover Defender. While petrol-powered versions continue to be sold overseas, the i-DM plug-in hybrid reflects Jetour's shift toward eco-friendly technologies and modern electrification.

Dimensionally, the Jetour T2 i-DM is a substantial SUV, measuring 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, and 1,875 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. This size ensures ample cabin space and comfort, with a practical five-seat layout designed for family use. Built on a robust monocoque frame, the SUV carries a bold, boxy silhouette that enhances its rugged character while maintaining a premium appeal.
Under the hood, the plug-in hybrid system delivers 156 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque, blending efficiency with performance. With its combination of modern design, hybrid technology, and spacious interiors, the Jetour T2 i-DM is poised to strengthen JSW Motors' entry into India and add momentum to the growing hybrid SUV segment.
