Hyundai's Cryptic F1 Teaser Sparks Rumors

Motorsports is a benchmark that most automakers aspire to. A brand's entry into motorsports can prove to boost its sales numbers and is a great marketing hack. Hyundai, the South Korean automaker, has been part of several motorsport events, including the World Rally Championship (WRC), TCR World Tour, and more. However, the brand is potentially eyeing an F1 debut also.

Recently, Hyundai shared a video on its Instagram that shows an F1 car with the 'Hyundai' nameplate on the rear wing. The brand mindfully captioned the post with - 'What If ?'. Previously, it was also rumored that Hyundai is looking forward to taking over the Alpine F1 team. However, the brand has not yet confirmed its acquisition project.

Also, FIA is set to announce new engine regulations for the 2026 season. This sparked a new possibility that Hyundai may act as an engine supplier for an F1 team. However, Cyril Abiteboul, Director of Hyundai Motorsport and Genesis Magma Racing, denied the brand's plan and any involvement in the F1 format. He also emphasized that for now, Hyundai will focus on the World Rally Championships. Explaining further, he also claimed that the post was just a marketing gimmick by the team.
