- Hyundai unveiled Venus Sedan and Earth SUV concepts for Auto China 2026 in Beijing
- Venus Sedan features a lightweight roof, transparent spoiler, and driver-focused interior
- Earth SUV offers upright design, air-module seats, and nature-inspired ambient lighting
Hyundai Motor Company has globally unveiled two design concept cars - the Venus Sedan Concept and the Earth SUV Concept. Set to be showcased at Auto China 2026 in Beijing from April 24, these China-focused concepts offer a preview of Hyundai's design direction for its next-generation new energy vehicles.
The Venus concept represents Hyundai's vision for next-generation electric sedans. It features a single-curve silhouette, a lightweight roof structure and a transparent rear spoiler. Finished in 'Radiant Gold', the exterior highlights a minimal, flowing design, while the interior adopts a driver-centric layout with layered ambient lighting, contrasting materials and an integrated digital character called 'Lumi'.
The Earth concept previews Hyundai's approach to electric family SUVs. It features a more upright stance with defined body surfaces, protective skid plates and exposed bolt detailing. Inside, the cabin focuses on comfort and space, featuring air-module seats, ambient lighting inspired by natural elements and hidden design references to Beijing.
At Auto China, Hyundai Motor will also preview Ioniq technologies developed specifically for the Chinese market. These include autonomous driving systems created in collaboration with local partners, along with market-specific powertrain solutions such as extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).
The all-electric Venus Sedan Concept and Earth SUV Concept, developed for the Chinese market, mark the start of Hyundai Motor's new phase in China. The two concepts reflect the company's approach to China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market and preview its future electric vehicle direction.
In China, IONIQ will expand beyond a vehicle lineup into a localized mobility ecosystem. While global safety and quality standards remain unchanged, the brand will integrate China-specific technologies, services and user experiences aligned with the local NEV market. As part of this approach, Hyundai Motor will introduce a new China-only naming strategy, with future IONIQ models named after planets to reflect a customer-centric brand philosophy.

"We chose to be 'The Origin'. Something entirely new - recognizable at a glance from a distance, with a powerful presence on the road, and delivering what we call a 'Best in First Impression'. 'The Origin' is our declaration: 'Lead, don't follow'. It is the point from which our movement begins. Our ambition is to set a new direction." - Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center at Hyundai Motor Company.
