- Honda Cars India will launch the updated City sedan on May 22

Honda Cars India seems to be planning on launching an updated version of the City, its premium sedan in the country. Based on the latest communication from the brand, the updated sedan will be launched on May 22. It is worth mentioning that this will be the first major update for the model since the launch of the fifth-gen version of the car. With this update, the Japanese car maker aims to improve its position against competitors like the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Hyundai Verna.
The 2026-spec City will likely retain the current architecture but will adopt minor styling revisions to keep it visually aligned with Honda's latest design cues. Expect revised bumpers, updated headlamps and tail-lamps, and a fresh set of alloy wheels, rather than a full-scale overhaul. Meanwhile, the silhouette of the car is expected to remain the same. However, we can expect it to have a new set of alloy wheels.

Honda is expected to prioritise the cabin on the City facelift, adding features that bring it on par with key competitors in spec and comfort. The update could bring a larger touchscreen infotainment unit with updated software, a fully digital instrument cluster, a powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, an optional 360-degree camera, and enhanced ADAS functions. All of this will likely be brought together by the presence of new upholstery.

Mechanically, the facelifted City is likely to retain the existing 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain, with outputs of around 121 hp and 126 hp, respectively. Both powertrains will continue to be offered with manual and CVT options, depending on the variant. With all of this, the manufacturer is expected to keep the City competitively priced, considering the competition in the segment.
