Hero MotoCorp recently had its shareholders' earnings conference call and the senior management revealed that the company is likely to launch two new affordable electric two-wheelers in July 2025. Now details regarding the range, battery and specifications aren't available, but from what we understand, they will be positioned below the Vida V1. The aim is to increase Hero MotoCorp's market share in the electric two-wheeler space, which is currently at four per cent. Now Hero did well to increase its market share from two per cent in FY2024 to four per cent in FY2025, but the company believes there's more volumes to be found with more affordable electric two-wheelers and better chances of scaling up production.

Driving this growth is the Vida EV portfolio. In December 2024, Hero MotoCorp introduced the Vida V2 range, an evolution of its inaugural electric scooter, the Vida V1, which debuted in October 2022. The new lineup includes three variants: Vida V2 Lite, V2 Plus, and V2 Pro. The entry-level V2 Lite variant is entirely new and features a compact 2.2 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed IDC range of 94 km. Hero MotoCorp posted a robust performance in the electric two-wheeler segment for FY2025, registering its highest-ever annual retail of 48,673 units - an impressive 175 per cent year-on-year growth over the 17,720 units sold in FY2024.

The final month of FY2025 proved to be particularly strong for Hero's EV operations, with the company delivering record monthly retail sales of 7,982 units. This surpassed the company's previous best months - October 2024 (7,350 units) and November 2024 (7,344 units).
Hero MotoCorp is also significantly ramping up its EV network. The company now boasts 203 Vida touchpoints, including 180 dealerships spread across 116 cities. With an eye on further expansion in the mid- and affordable EV segments during the current fiscal, Hero is steadily strengthening its position in the electric mobility space. Supporting this ecosystem is a growing charging infrastructure. Hero MotoCorp, an investor in Ather Energy, now has access to approximately 2,500 charging stations nationwide through its partnership with the Bengaluru-based EV startup.
