At the Samson Smart Mobility Summit 2026 in Tel Aviv, Israel, Elon Musk laid out an ambitious vision for the future of transportation, artificial intelligence, robotics and human-machine integration - predicting that autonomous mobility and intelligent robots could fundamentally reshape everyday life within the next decade.
One of Musk's strongest predictions centered around autonomous driving. According to him, artificial intelligence-powered vehicles are moving rapidly from development and testing toward real-world deployment. Musk stated that Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system continues to evolve using AI-driven vision systems and cameras, without relying heavily on radar technology.

Musk claimed that within the next 10 years, nearly 90 per cent of all distance travelled could happen through autonomous systems rather than human drivers. In his view, manually driving a vehicle may eventually become more of a recreational or enthusiast activity rather than a daily necessity.

He also argued that autonomous systems would become significantly safer than human-operated vehicles. According to Musk, Tesla's current self-driving technology is expected to become "at least an order of magnitude safer" than human driving, largely due to the elimination of human error, distraction and fatigue.

Beyond vehicles, Musk expanded the conversation toward humanoid robotics. He predicted a future where intelligent robots become deeply integrated into daily life, functioning almost like personal assistants capable of handling repetitive and physically demanding tasks.
Musk suggested that the number of intelligent humanoid robots could eventually exceed the global human population. He described this as a turning point that could unlock unprecedented productivity and economic abundance, potentially transforming labour, manufacturing and services at a global scale.
However, Musk also acknowledged the risks associated with advanced artificial intelligence and robotics. While optimistic about their benefits, he stressed the importance of building safeguards and carefully considering long-term ethical and safety implications.
Another major focus of Musk's discussion was Neuralink and its ongoing work in brain-computer interfaces.
Musk described Neuralink's progress as potentially revolutionary for medicine and human capability. He spoke about how the technology could help people with severe spinal injuries regain mobility and communication abilities by enabling direct interaction between the brain and digital systems.
He also revealed that future Neuralink implants are being designed to restore vision for blind individuals, including people who no longer have functioning optic nerves. Musk suggested that over time, such systems could potentially evolve beyond restoring normal sight and may even offer "superhuman" visual capabilities.
The broader theme throughout Musk's appearance was the evolution of smart mobility and AI-driven societies. He predicted that autonomous transport, robotics and AI-powered infrastructure would dominate future urban environments, fundamentally changing how cities function and how people work and travel.
According to Musk, a highly automated economy driven by intelligent machines could eventually lead to widespread prosperity and significantly higher living standards. At the same time, he acknowledged the philosophical questions this future could create - particularly around human purpose and meaning in a world where machines outperform humans across many tasks.
Musk also praised Israel for its innovation ecosystem, describing the country as one of the world's leading technology hubs relative to its population size. He highlighted Israel's contributions across artificial intelligence, mobility and engineering, and suggested that partnerships between Tesla and Israeli innovators could further accelerate advancements in transportation and smart technology.
Throughout the summit, Musk repeatedly emphasized the importance of continued experimentation and innovation, arguing that rapid technological progress will define the next decade across mobility, healthcare, robotics and artificial intelligence.
