- BYD India will increase electric vehicle prices by 2 to 3 percent starting May 1, 2026
- Price increases will affect Atto 3, eMax 7, Seal, and Sealion 7 models
- Price hikes will range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.7 lakh depending on the model variant
BYD India has announced a price increase for its electric vehicles, effective from May 1, 2026. The hike, ranging from 2 to 3 per cent across the lineup, stems from rising input costs and supply chain disruptions.
The decision affects all four models in BYD's current India portfolio: Atto 3, eMax 7, Seal, and Sealion 7. Current ex-showroom prices start at Rs 24.99 lakh for the Atto 3 and go up to Rs 54.90 lakh for the top Sealion 7 variant.
Buyers can expect hikes of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh on most models, with higher-end variants facing up to Rs 1.7 lakh more. For instance, the Atto 3 may rise to Rs 25.49-34.99 lakh, eMax 7 to Rs 27.45-30.49 lakh, Seal to Rs 41.80-54.75 lakh, and Sealion 7 seeing the largest jump.

Rising costs of raw materials like aluminium and petroleum coke, key to EV batteries, drive this revision. Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have spiked freight and input expenses, impacting imports of vehicles and parts.

This marks BYD's second price adjustment in 2026, following a selective hike on the Sealion 7 earlier this year. The brand maintains its premium positioning amid competition in the EV space.
Other manufacturers face similar pressures. Hyundai plans a hike of up to 1 per cent from May, while Tata Motors has also revised prices recently.
Prospective buyers have until April 30 to secure current rates. BYD has not released exact figures yet, but the changes reflect broader industry trends in managing cost volatility.
