BMW R 1300 RT Design Patent

BMW Motorrad has filed patents for the R 1300 RT, signalling fresh ambitions in the luxury tourer segment as it eyes a potential India debut. As, filing of patent does not confirm that the motorcycle will be launched in the country. This successor to the R 1250 RT promises sharper dynamics and upgraded tech, built around the potent boxer engine from the R 1300 GS lineup.

At its core sits a 1,300cc air/liquid-cooled boxer twin, churning out 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, gains over the outgoing model's 136 hp. Paired with a six-speed gearbox and shaft drive, it hints at an optional automatic transmission for effortless long hauls. The chassis swaps tubular steel for a lighter sheet-metal frame with an aluminium subframe, aiming to trim weight while boosting rigidity for highway stability and twisty backroad fun.
