BMW had silently updated its roundel logo without any formal announcement. The new look was first introduced on the iX3 in September 2025. Now, the brand is going to use it on all the other cars from February. The updates are subtle and come in the form of changes in hues and textures. Easy to overlook, and hence was earlier hidden in plain sight.
Talking of changes, the horizontal and vertical chrome bars that once divided the blue and white areas are no longer there. Additionally, it appears the remaining chrome on the updated logo now has a smoked appearance, which enhances its contemporary look. It also looks like the individual 'BMW' letters have been slimmed down, with the black portion now featuring a satin or matte finish rather than a glossy one.

BMW Blogs quotes Oliver Heilmer, the brand's design boss saying, "We wanted to keep the heritage, but bring more precision to the logo. The chrome is still there, the letters have been refined with a shiny pattern you often find in watches, and the white surfaces now sit closer to the outer ring. It's flat, but when you touch it, you can still feel the ridges."

The updated logo is already available for some European retailers, although it might not align perfectly with existing models. BMW mentions that the new roundel will be placed on the hood, but it doesn't specify whether it will be used on the trunk/tailgate, wheel center caps, or the steering wheel.
BMW is set to refresh its M performance emblem, which will start to show up on vehicles in February. The specific changes BMW has in mind remain uncertain, but if the roundel is any indication, it might be another very subtle design adjustment. Back in 2020, BMW unveiled a new logo that coexisted with the one it had used since 1997. Additionally, in 2017, the brand launched a black-and-white logo for its elite models.
