MG Hector Facelift Teased

MG Motor India has unveiled the first teaser for the upcoming Hector facelift, signaling the SUV's return with notable upgrades. Featuring the tagline "It's been a while. Get ready to be surprised," the teaser hints at a refreshed design language and a renewed brand strategy for the Indian market. This marks Hector's first major update since MG's partnership with JSW, and early reports suggest the company is preparing a more premium, feature-rich, and technology-focused version of its flagship ICE SUV.

Although the teaser video conceals most details of the MG Hector facelift, sightings of the test mule have already offered strong clues about the upcoming changes. Spy images have captured the facelifted MG Hector undergoing highway trials, and what instantly grabs attention is its unusual disguise. Rather than the heavy camouflage wraps commonly used by automakers, MG has chosen a distinctive green netted tarp, secured to the SUV's body with plastic ropes. This quirky approach makes the test mule easy to spot while still hiding finer styling cues. The unconventional cover has sparked curiosity among enthusiasts, fueling speculation about the design updates waiting beneath the surface.

The 2026 MG Hector is expected to arrive with a refreshed exterior, featuring redesigned front and rear bumpers that lend a more modern and assertive look. A new front grille adds to the visual update, while the alloy wheels, likely 19-inch units, are tipped to sport an all-new design. Despite these changes, MG has retained the familiar LED DRLs and headlamp layout, preserving the SUV's signature face. The overall sheet metal and silhouette remain unchanged, indicating that the facelift focuses more on cosmetic enhancements than structural revisions.

The video footage reveals several other noticeable updates as well. The fresh set of alloy wheels immediately stands out, maintaining the familiar five-spoke layout but adopting a completely new design compared to the outgoing version. Toward the end of the clip, the rear bumper is shown, featuring what appears to be a redesigned skid plate that adds a sportier touch. Subtle revisions to the tailgate are also anticipated, though the overall side profile remains largely unchanged, with most sheet metal carried over from the current Hector.

Alongside its exterior refresh, the 2026 MG Hector facelift is expected to receive notable interior and tech enhancements. Ventilated seats may be offered for both front and rear passengers, improving overall comfort. The SUV is also likely to feature upgraded connected car technology, a smoother and more intuitive user interface, and expanded ADAS capabilities. These additions aim to elevate the Hector's premium appeal while aligning it with evolving customer expectations in the mid-size SUV segment.
