It was a very tense day in the Kashmir Valley on Monday as authorities cracked down on protests led by separatist groups, a clear sign that the government is no longer willing to stand back and let protesters take centrestage. But many still defied curfew and clashed with security forces. At least five people were killed and over 80 injured in the clashes.
