One fallout of the politics of hate being played out in Maharashtra by politicians like Raj Thackeray is a possible thaw in relations between the Gandhi family and the Bachchans. While Amitabh Bachchan was offering a public apology in Mumbai on Wednesday, Sonia Gandhi had Congress leader Margaret Alva personally call up Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and inquire about the well-being and safety of the Bachchans.
