For the past two days, the CPI(M) has been discussing the possibility of a Third Alternative in Indian politics, distinct from the UPA and the NDA. This Third Alternative, is not the same as a Third Front. ''A Third Front is a cut and paste job. The Third Alternative has to be borne out of shared understanding of policies,'' said Sitaram Yechury, CPI(M) Politburo member.
