Even as Apple launches its new 3G capable iPhone, the Indian government is also on the verge of kick starting 3G services in the country. But the catch is that the licenses will come at a cost. The government and the telecom regulator have agreed to hike the base price for auction to Rs 2000 crore for a pan India license. This is Rs 600 crore more than the Rs 1400 crore proposed by TRAI and all successful bidders will have to match the highest bid.
