The markets have been choppy and the economy is shaky. That is leaving retail investors a little spooked. This has clearly affected the number of demat accounts being opened. A demat account is a must for trading in shares. Last year, on an average three lakh accounts were opened every month. It is down to just 2 lakhs this year.
